It is a typical casino game with a separate table, and there has thus been no particular market for this type of game in Norway until it became more common in online casinos. Many people probably know crap from movies and TV series, but there are probably fewer who know all the rules and details that apply to this game. Craps is a game that is mainly played on luck and chance, but it always pays to know the options you have before you start placing your bets.
Who is playing?
Craps is played with a shooter against the house, but it is usually possible for someone other than the shooter to place bets on the roll in question. The shooter will vary, and there is also a lot of superstition behind the throws, so it pays to keep your tongue straight if you play in a land-based casino. If you don’t want to be a shooter, you obviously don’t need to either.
Values on rolls
When you start a craps game, you will gather all the bettors around the craps table. All players make their bets before the player throws, and here you have several different options. On the first throw, which is called come out, you can choose to bet either on the pass line or on the don’t pass. Pass line means that you bet that this come-out roll will be either 7 or 11. If, on the other hand, you bet on don’t pass, 2, 3 and 12 are the winning combinations. Should the throw instead land on the remaining combinations, 4-6 or 8-10, what is called a point is established. This point number will then be marked on the table, and the thrower must continue either until a new point is achieved or until a 7 is scored.
Betting on odds
If you want to make it even more complicated, you have the option to bet on pass odds after the come-out throw has been made. Here you then bet on whether you think points will be achieved before 7. Here there is more money to be made, as different point values have different odds, and in other words, here you have the opportunity to take home bigger prizes. However, it is more complicated to keep track of the various odds, so it pays to wait to place bets on pass odds until you feel that you have good control over how the game works.
Other types of bet
Line bets and odds bets are the most common and safest forms of betting when playing craps, and it pays to stick to these unless you are exceptionally fond of high Risk. If, on the other hand, you want to take a chance, you also have the option of betting in the middle of the table, on what are called proposition bets. Here you can choose to bet on Hard Way (for example, a hard 4 is two deuces), big 6 big 8. However, these give a much greater advantage to the house, and it is thus much less likely that you will take them home big prizes this way.
Craps online
The course of the game is relatively similar regardless of whether you play physically or on the PC screen, but there will of course be some differences. For example, as a shooter, you will have less influence on how the dice roll when you throw online, as it is, after all, the same as pressing a start button. How much you can influence the roll of the dice in a physical game can of course also be discussed, and it is of course also not allowed to cheat. However, this is something that experienced players often miss if they play craps online rather than in physical form. Otherwise, the online versions of craps tend to offer the same bet types and options as what you find in physical craps, which means that you can perfectly practice craps online and then be completely ready to play with the dice in your hand if one should take a trip to Las Vegas.
Another difference is, of course, that you always have the other players around you when you play in a physical casino, and that you thus get a completely different atmosphere than what you can expect from an online game. However, live craps online as well, although this is not among the most common offers in today’s online casinos. If you want to become a better craps player, all you have to do is sit down in front of the PC and play until you have full control over all the rules and connections.
